 Dear friends, integration and multiculture are words often used by public administration when the different aspects of immigrations policies are faced. Clear and shared strategies are required, able to promote and favour, beyond rhetoric, a climate of respect and mutual co-operation. It is an established fact that the immigrant people who steadily live in the Polesine area are now more than 6% of the overall population, thus pointing out that foreign citizens are no more a marginal component of our society but active members inside the local social and economic life. The Province of Rovigo has been trying to create and support means essential to promote integration strategies whose ambitious purpose is a network involving Municipalities, policy makers, recognized organizations and aiming at the achievement of shared goals. However there is still a lot to do to make our Country able to overcome fears and barriers. And yet positive signs are visible. You just have to visit any school to find out that new generations have by now overcome suspicion and fear. Once more, great undertakings can be achieved by taking small steps. Encouraging new generations’ awareness will build up a democracy based on opportunities and non-discrimination.

Seasonal immigration flows 2010: pre-filling of applications has started. SUI WEB system procedure to be extended to accredited employers’ associations only. Pending the signature of the Migration Flow Decree 2010 and its publication in the Official Journal, the Ministry of Home Affaire has started since 29th March the procedure concerning the pre-filling of applications. As in the previous years the procedure shall be only extended to the accredited employers’ associations and shall be performed through SUI WEB system under the address https://sportellounicoimmigrazione.interno.it. The operative modalities to be accredited through the relevant Prefecture are the same of the previous years.
CONFERENCE ''IMMIGRATION AND SAFETY MEASURES'' ::..
The Conference “Immigration and safety measures” organized by the Councillorship of Immigration Policies of the Province of Rovigo in cooperation with CGIL of Rovigo, ASGI (Immigration Law Studies Association) and the Lawyers’ Association of Rovigo was held on Thursday 17th December 2009. The conference was introduced by Avv. Andrea Cirillo, criminal lawyer. Then Mr. Leonardo Raito, District Councillor of Immigration Policies, underlined in his speech the necessity to promote a culture of respect towards the rights of immigrants, also on a mediatic level. Then Mr. Daniele Negri, teaching criminal procedure at the University of Ferrara dealt with the process aspects of safety measures as well as with crime extension provided by the new decree. Mr. Francesco Misto, President of the Surveillance Court of Bologna, spoke on UEPE alternative sanctions. The conference was concluded by Mr. Giovanni Nalin, the Provincial general secretary of the CGIL of Rovigo.
CONFERENCE ''NEW POPULATIONS IN RURAL AREAS, NEWBORN CHILDREN AND IMMIGRANTS IN RURAL AREAS'' ::..
The conference promoted by “Fondazione Responsabilità Etica” with the support of the Province of Rovigo was held at Palazzo Celio on Saturday 13th March. As every year, the conference was focused on analysing the fragile areas of our country. This year, as specified by the title of the conference “New populations in rural areas, newborn children and immigrants in rural areas” it has been made an attempt to further the knowledge of the moving of strangers towards the fragile areas of our country. We are talking about foreigners who earn their living working in stables and in seasonal harvests and of immigrants who live in small mountain villages abandoned by their native inhabitants. Why do foreigners choose to live there? For working reasons? Because of the reduced price of houses? The most affected geographical areas in Italy were singled out during the conference, from the Alps, to the Pianura Padana area, the Apennine crest and the flat areas in the South, to better understand the dynamics of this settlement in order to elaborate adequate policies to be adopted in the future. Indeed, there is the risk of paying attention only to the concentration of immigrants in the urban-industrial areas while neglecting the important migration movements towards the more remote and marginal areas of our country.
NEW UPDATED EDITION OF THE CARTA DEI SERVIZI (SERVICE CARD) OF THE DISTRICT OF ROVIGO FOR FOREIGN CITIZENS ::..
The Carta dei Servizi (Service Card) is a publication in various languages issued by the Councillorship of Immigration of the District of Rovigo, containing a wide range of useful information and indications aiming to help foreign citizens to know our territory, its opportunities, its services – from work to the health system, from education to housing issues and how to submit a political asylum application – and the requirements necessary to actively stay in our district, in particular as regards acquired rights and duties.
A MULTILINGUAL LEAFLET TO REMIND YOU OF THE RISKS DUE TO ALCOHOL: MENO ALCOOL, PIU' VITA (LESS ALCOHOL, MORE LIFE) ::..
 The Councillorship of Immigration of the District of Rovigo has recently presented, within the framework of a press conference held at Palazzo Celio, a multilingual information leaflet called “MENO ALCOOL, PIÙ VITA” (less alcohol, more life), aiming to provide foreign citizens present in Polesine with some useful information on the risks due to the use of alcoholic drinks and prevent and combat their abuse.
Alcohol is one of the main risk factors for our health and well-being. Its use leads to addiction and may damage many organs in our body, in particular the nervous system, heart and arteries, liver, pancreas, oesophagus, stomach, intestine, reproduction system and breasts.
